Attempt At Being Crafty

I don't normally consider myself to be a crafty person, but I do enjoy making crafts. I recently decided that I wanted some of our living room furniture to match a little more. We have a coffee table that I found at the Goodwill, someone had painted it black and then it got a little scratched up, but I love it! So I decided that I would take our end table that Holly and Zach got us last summer and paint it to match the coffee table. It turned out to be a little bigger project than I first thought it would be, but I'm finally done!

This is what the table looked like before, then I spent hours sanding it down.

Halfway through sanding I started to wonder what I had gotten myself into, but I kept at it and finally finished.

I'm so excited to have my matching tables. I also feel a little better about my ability to be crafty.

Working Hard

I'm working at a salon that is specially designed for kids. We cut and style hair and we also put on parties. The girls really get into the parties. They get updos, makeup, their nails painted, and they get to dress up. It is so much fun, I love my job.

Hard at work.

This was from a recent party. None of the girls wanted their hair up, just curly, oh well. Then there was the poor brother of the birthday girl that was chased around. All of the girls wanted him to get his nails painted too, but he wasn't having any of that.

White Coat Ceremony

Last weekend was Brent's White Coat Ceremony. His parents were able to come down and spend the day with us, it was so nice to have family here to visit. We spent Saturday night at the ceremony which thankfully didn't drag on and on. It was a very nice event, all the students received their white coats and their stethoscope. The lighting wasn't very good for taking pictures sorry.

Sorry this is a little blurry, this is Brent with the Assistant Surgeon General of the United States, the President of Pacific Northwest University, and the President of the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

I'm so proud of Brent. He has only been in school for a couple of months but he works so hard and studies like crazy. He is so smart and an amazing husband, I love him so much.

I really hope our kids aren't this bad.

I know that I blog a lot about Payton, but we don't have any kids, so until we do you'll be seeing a lot of Payton. Sorry. I'm sure that most of you have seen those dogs that look really weird and their tongue hangs out the side of their mouth. Well I don't want Payton to end up looking like that so we are doing what we can to help him have healthy teeth and gums. As you might imagine he really isn't very cooperative.

I know he looks pretty vicious, he is a fighter. The whole time he shakes his head trying to get away, poor little guy. Surprisingly when I finished he didn't run away instead he seemed very interested in the toothbrush. So I let him sniff it and then he took it and ran. I found him in his favorite but not so good hiding spot under the coffee table.

I really hope that when we do have kids they aren't as naughty as he is.

My newest pet peeve

Recentally I've discovered a new and very annoying habit that Payton has. I think Payton is a lot smarter than some would like to give him credit for; I think that he knows when he does things that bug me and now he seems to like to do them all the time. When I walk into the kitchen and go to the fridge it has become very common for me to step on pieces of dog food. It's not just a piece or two, but multiple pieces of food.

You might think that this isn't that bad and why would I get so upset. Well it wouldn't be too bad if this was the only place I found pieces of dog food. I spend my days finding pieces on the kitchen rug and all over in the carpet, which is brown so it's even harder to spot. Still you might think this isn't that bad, but it gets better. Payton feels the need to make his mess on the kitchen floor and then throughout the day instead of eating whats on the floor he goes back to his bowl of food. The only time he feels the need to pick up (eat) this food is when his bowl is empty. Brent gets a kick out it when I get upset over it, but I really think Payton knows exactly what he is doing.

Labor Day

Since today is a holiday Brent didn't have school so we were able to spend some time together. We had some friends tell us about a cave that is pretty close so we decided to check it out.

This is the entrance to the cave.

This is us coming out the other end. It was such a nice day outside just a little breezy, but it was really nice to get to spend time with Brent.
