Well I've been putting this off for a week now mostly because deep down I really don't want to believe that my little boy is a year old already. The time went by way too fast, but we did have a fun time celebrating. Brent's parents were able to come and visit and celebrate with us.
Jaxon had a good time opening his presents and even Payton was really excited to see what was inside. He got lots a fun new toys and has really enjoyed playing with all of them.

I wanted to attempt to make a fun cake for Jax, but it didn't turn out the way I imagined it in my head. I was going for a monster cake, but I think that it ended up looking like a pathetic attempt at Oscar the Grouch, which wasn't what I had in mind. Oh well at least I tried.

He did great while we sang to him, but when it came time to dig in he didn't like it.

I tried to help him by putting his fingers in the frosting which was the wrong thing to do, he hated it and immediately started to scream.

I then tried to feed him some which he also hated.

After we took the cake away and Dad got him calmed down, Grandma tried to share a bite of a cupcake (no frosting) and he loved it. I then shared a couple bites of my cupcake with him, he loved it until he took a bite that had frosting on it. So we got him a bowl of cake only and he played with it and ate a little.

I have to say I was a little disappointed that this was as messy as he got. I was planning on cake and frosting everywhere, but I guess he just doesn't like to get too messy. I think he just didn't like the feel of the frosting. It was a fun weekend and we loved having family here to help celebrate with us.
Jaxon is getting so big, it is amazing how much he has changed in just a year.
He is still on the small side but growing well for him. At his 12 month appointment he weighed 19.5 lbs. and 29 inches long. He just got his 7th tooth yesterday. He has stated to take small steps on his own. He loves to talk to jabber all the time, and he loves to dance. He can say Dada, mama, payton, up, and he loves to imitate whatever he hears us say. We love our little boy and are so glad to have him in our family.

Aww, they grow up so fast! He's adorable and it is funny that he wouldn't eat or touch frosting!
That awesome! Happy birthday Jaxon! Madi is the same way! She doesn't like getting her hands dirty...and she is the same way still! It was fun seeing you guys!
